Winning Teams: A Business Team Building Case Study

A midsize business on a strict deadline contacted The Change Agents for help with team building. Although they had a dynamic project team in place, there was tension between key players that was having a cascading effect on others and putting the deadline at risk.

When we were called in, we talked to the decision makers on the team, the project leads, and every other person that touched the project. We asked what’s working, what’s not working, and why. We braided those stories together, stepped back, and examined what this ecosystem that we had just scanned was telling us. We layered this with behavioral styles assessments and one-page profiles the participants filled out about how they perceive themselves and how they think others perceive them.

From there, we charted a solution that really balanced the best styles and the best approaches for a team effort going forward. This ultimately translated into a work team charter, with established goals and metrics. In other words – who’s on first, and who’s going to accomplish what by when?
